Some people call the tank a pressure tank and some call it a vacuum tank. Which is it? I think a tank for the vacuum that is too big would over work the little pump. The negative comments about the oily exhaust from the pump are just silly. The mist is sent into a waste bottle that collects most of the oil. In our case, the exhaust line from the pump runs through a small hole I cut in the wall of our milking room into the bottle located on a ledge outdoors. We have ZERO problem with this and neither should you, assuming you create the simple setup necessary.
The cost of the vacuum pump oil is truly minimal, a few cents a year. We've had to top off the oil level only once in two years of extensive use.
We've never cleaned the pressure tank. We flush our lines with a warm bleach solution and then hot water. Some of the bleach solution ends up in the tank, and is emptied periodically. The bleach kills any germs in the tank. The only time the tank "smells" is when you open it to dump the refluxed water. Yes it does get faster and easier the more you work with it, you will get your own groove. I bought double hoses and double inflections so when 1 is in the wash the other is ready to go also the Inline Filer is a time saver must. After your done milking suck up some warm to hot soapy water into the jar and then empty ir then move on to the warm bleach water. I then take the I no line filter apart an swish it in the bleach water swish the stainless steel filter in the bleach water, just incase any hair or anything eles gets in the (I haven't had the anything else) put it together and done for 2 goats It takes me a half hour including getting each goats rinsing lines again begorr starting, to taking them back to the pen then cleaning up running hot soapy water into the lines the dooing the same with bleach. Then using black water to clean the milking stand. 1 time a week it does get the deluxe cleaning. It is a gem. I also bought a longer hose. I love. If you have 2 different butter sizes get a set of each they are easy enough to switch out. Have fun with it. It is genital on the utters.that is the way I roll with thr Simple Pulse. Oh I use All glass jars I feel better seeing my milk than having it on a stainless bucket, that id just me. I w...Thank you, equally, for your thoughtful words. I would agree with you that priests are human, and that they struggle with finding the best way to communicate to their flocks how to translate spiritual truths into practical action. For that reason, it was difficult for me to write the words "shame on any priest" who implies that the ends justify the means. Although I only have the comments of the priest by hearsay, I've learned since last night that a bishop, whom I have always respected, in a newspaper column wrote that to refrain from voting in this presidential election is "irresponsible." As much as I empathize with a spiritual leader's tough choices in choosing his words, a priest, or even a bishop, needs to be called out when he calls into question a faithful Catholic's conscientious, prayerful choice, never more so than when that Catholic's choice is clearly permissible according to the Church's moral tradition.

That, in any case, is why I felt the harshness of my language was needful in the present instance, in a post where for the most part I am trying hard to accept other people's varied but carefully thought out decisions in this no-win election season.

For Rosemary's and my own part, I am confident that our "no-vote" is not a sin of omission. Leaving the ballot blank is in fact a conscious action, not an omission or a lack of action out of fear, laziness, confusion, or anything else. And it is a permissible action because no Catholic is ever required to commit an act that has potential evil effects, even if those effects are secondary and lesser than the good primary, intended effects. Again, this is a basic principle of Catholic moral theology.

As regards the application of "just war theory," I'm afraid that I simply can't go there. My reading of Aquinas yields evidence of his extreme caution and precision in laying out the requirements for a just war. He is certainly not talking metaphorically about an individual voter who is doing battle in a "culture war."

Again, not voting can certainly be "doing nothing," as you point out, and that very well could be a sin of omission and the result of sloth in combination with any number of other sins. But I think it's pretty clear from the witness that Rosemary and I are providing with this post, and with all the responses that we've made to the reactions on Facebook, that we are not "doing nothing." Rather, we are trying to articulate to those in the same moral quandary that there is nothing in the moral tradition that requires a Catholic to "play the world's game." At a certain point, the Catholic can take stock of the situation and discern that the stakes are too high, that the dangers to his soul are too great to continue playing. So, that's where Rose and I are at. All we ask is for the same respect for our prayerful, carefully thought out judgement that we accord to yours.

God bless you and yours in your own prayerful decision. May God look kindly upon our nation and bring us all closer to His will for us. Amen.
Franz Kleinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05010904052564445366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895158150309157061.post-73331982625319861042016-11-07T19:09:08.806-05:002016-11-07T19:09:08.806-05:00Thanks for this post, I found it very enlightening...Thanks for this post, I found it very enlightening about a very valid and faithful position. I just wanted to provide my humble opinion, if I may.

First, I think that our Catholic priests, are also human. Although they have a great responsibility, when they communicate their messages within their human imperfection, they pray a lot on the issue, they ask for the Holy Spirit intersession to guide their words, they discuss the issue with other priests, read, and try to find reasoning that make sense from logical and faith-based points of view to guide parishioner's into the right path.

Although I didn't hear your priest, I can understand what he says without having to arrive to a conclusion jeopardizing my conscience, I have heard similar words from other priests as well, and I think that we are missing the point in the part that we can also be guilty when we fail to do something, omission can also be a grave fault.

Where I want to get is this, in line with your example, knowing that there are hundreds of people in the building including one of your family members, and the hostage taker wants to get someone killed by you or blow the whole building (and killing also your loved one), could be a good example if it wasn't that in an election we have more than one person pushing for either side, and if we bring this to the analogy, there will be people strongly asking the hostage taker to blow the building and other similar group asking you to kill someone.

We naturally don't want to get our loved one and the people around get killed with the explosion, but don't want to kill any innocent one either. We would not simply cross arms and let others decide for us by doing nothing. At the least, I would ask if killing myself would count as the person the criminal demands, to save all others, which is also very wrong, making it a decision on a lesser evil.

In this election, the best example for me is of a warfare, we are receiving a frontal attack, and we have the right to defend ourselves even if that may cause lives loses. With a candidate that promotes the killing of innocent babies with big chances to win, it is hard, at least for me to look from the distance. Paragraph 2309 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church talks about the just war doctrine, and our legit right to defend if all conditions described there are met, which is precisely this case, in this election. The use of arms described there comes with the use of our votes to defend from a grater evil candidate for winning.

I think that the priests are saying that we are not allowed to fail doing nothing, and this includes not voting, or voting for someone that we know won't make any difference, consequently allowing space to a greater evil we "know" from the two. Only one has in its political agenda and "is openly supporting" one grave fault that pierces directly into one of our 10 Commandments.

Of course we are free to decide in good conscience what to do, and the Church or priests are not condemning us, they are just advising without any political interest so that we can take the best decision. In this election, unfortunately we are not voting for someone but against someone who will bring more evil without any doubt or any hypothetical possibilities, it is a fact of what will happen with millions of innocent lives.

I have also prayed for a light of wisdom to take the right conscious decision with an actual vote that can make a difference, but like in a warfare scenario I am extremely uncomfortable with this lesser evil situation. God bless you two, and thanks for sharing your rightful position.MostlyHarmlesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08360688999479012410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895158150309157061.post-31196751635274631122016-11-06T22:41:50.846-05:002016-11-06T22:41:50.846-05:00Good deal.Good deal.Evan Wormsbecherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04385070218895573368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6895158150309157061.post-65446229845944720982016-11-06T22:35:29.983-05:002016-11-06T22:35:29.983-05:00From a fb reply of mine to a poster's comment ...From a fb reply of mine to a poster's comment on that platform: Oh, I'll be there in the voting booth on Tuesday. In early voting, I did a write-in for many of the reasons you express here. Your post does leave me with a couple questions though. Are you planning to vote at all? Local and congressional elections have their place too. In at least some of those, I found acceptable candidates to support. In a few of those, I found no acceptable candidate and simply left that part blank.
